The Faultline Classic was initially held in 1990 as a pro-only event to commemorate the infamous Loma Prieta earthquake which was centered less than 10 miles from the DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course in Santa Cruz, CA. Disc Golf Hall of Fame member Marty Hapner and fellow DeLaveaga Disc Golf pioneer David LeVan came up with the idea in January 1990 as they were driving to the Beserkely Best Pairs event at Aquatic Park.
2014 marks the 24th anniversary of the Faultline, and this year will see a few significant changes:
- For the first time ever, the Faultline will be a Pro/Am rather than pro-only. Amateur players will finally have a chance to earn a vaunted Faultline ‘brick’!
- The tournament will focus on a new fundraising element benefitting local charities
- The event will take place December 13th and 14th, rather than early October as in past years
The Faultline filled up pretty quickly, but if you’d like to get on the waiting list you can do so online here.
